Neil – from three chords to understanding how music works

Tim has been teaching me since September 2022. Before I started, I knew about three chords. Tim's lessons teach you a complete approach to playing guitar. 

I've not only learnt a huge range of chords, scales, rhythm patterns and techniques, I've also learnt how to put these skills into practice. I have gained an understanding of what I am playing, why I am playing it, why certain things work and why certain things don't.

You could find plenty of tutors online or in the local area that could teach you how to play covers, how to play chords and scales. Tim does this and so much more, he teaches you how to become a guitarist and how to understand how music works.

John – finally progressing after 60 years of “just chords”

Although I have owned a guitar for over 60 years, I have never been able to play it to my satisfaction. I have always known the basic chords, but I found it next to impossible to progress to the next level and to play the songs I really wanted to. My guitar playing ambitions had well and truly stalled!

I started having lessons with Tim two years ago. Since then, my guitar playing ability has improved exponentially and I now have the skills and confidence to progress to the next level!

When I first started, I was concerned that I would show myself up due to my lack of ability and technical knowledge. This proved to be groundless, as each session is carefully crafted such that all abilities are catered for and everyone is able to progress at their own pace in a friendly, low-pressure environment.

They say that it’s good for your wellbeing to learn a musical instrument in old age, I can confirm that this is true!

Iain – from 50-year-old beginner to confident player

I have been a music lover forever, and at the mature age of 50, decided I wanted to play my own music. So after looking around for local tutors, I found Tim via a flyer through my door.

We first had a telephone chat to make sure Tim could support me on my journey, and then I had my first lesson, knowing very little about a guitar, never mind getting music out of it!

Now six months later, I am thoroughly enjoying playing and continuing to learn with Tim’s support. Tim makes learning very relaxing, is extremely supportive and applies no pressure to progress at a certain rate, so you learn at your own pace.

I would have no hesitation to recommend Tim to anyone wanting to learn guitar from scratch like me, or wants to make some improvements to their current level. Now back to practising!

Alf – proof it’s never too late (85 and still learning)

I’ve been playing since age 16 and I’ve experienced playing in bands and other forms. 

But since joining, I’ve learned so much and wished you could have taught me at 16, but now at 85 it’s never too late.
